I've read elsewhere in this forum that Pixel 3 + Android 10 works without root "in some markets".

So a question to the android firmware / hack gurus out there:
For e.g. an American Pixel3, what it it that determines which markets the Pixel 3 is thinking it's in, and how are these necessary "functions" enabled/disabled?  -Is it a matter of "current location", or is it the "current location when the phone was activated, i.e. registered with Google" ?  -Will the enabled/disabled functions change after a factory reset?

Some phones set a different code in the ROM to identify the market area.
Some phones identify the market area by checking the SIM card.
Some phones may use other ways.

Don't know how Pixel 3 + Android 10 identify the market area.
