Motorola disabled the call recording feature of some phones above, as a result you can't record calls in two directions.
Boldbeast Recorder can fix this issue. Please root your phone and use following settings to record calls:

- Record Mode: 1, 5, 7, 21 or 24
- Tune Audio Route: Group3
- Change Audio Controls: Yes

Now your Moto X records calls clearly and loudly in two directions. Bluetooth recording also works.

================
After upgrade to Android 5.0, all Moto X 2nd phones don't need root:
XT1085 Android 5.0
XT1092 Android 5.0
XT1093 Android 5.0
XT1094 Android 5.0
XT1095 Android 5.0
XT1096 Android 5.0
XT1097 Android 5.0

Please install Boldbeast Recorder V7.8 or newer versions, use these settings to record calls:
- Record Mode: 1, 5, 7
- Record Format: WAV
- Tune Audio Route: Group3

Motorola disabled the call recording feature in the Android 5.0 ROM, all other recorders can only record your voice, the caller's voice is very weak. Boldbeast Recorder is the only solution that can bypass the limit and record calls perfectly in two sides without root.

Hi, my Moto X XT1058 is not root, working with Android 4.4.4; only show me these buttons: Record Mode and Tune Special, in record mode put 7 and in special tune, uncheck, I've not change audio control; very different than my other device with Boldbeast 3.40 ( registered in my name Felipe Pandares, day 04022014) a Nokia N8, it works perfect.

I have a Moto X (1st) (XT1055) with Android 5.1 and found I no longer need root with the latest update.

- Record mode: 1
- Record Format: WAV
- Tune Audio Route: Group3

Some others worked somewhat, but this appears to be the best option. I will update if I find any other modes that work or if this one stops working.

FYI, I've had this call recorder for quite a while on KitKat and used a one click root solution. For any of you having issues with that I'd be happy to help.

It's a great news for XT1055 users!
Hope it works also for other  Moto X 1st phones without root.
Thanks.

Which one click root solution did you use on your moto x 1st gen ?
I tried kingroot although it successfully root my mobile but firstly it was temporary root secondly after rooting my mobile got unstable I frequently get error message like an application has stopped working. But if I restart my mobile than everything works fine the only problem is that I don't have a rooted mobile now.
